6 sp Fast coolers

Are any of you guys running the fast coolers on your 6spd? I have been looking at them but I am not sure if they are worth the investment? Thanks for the help.

I'm interested in hearing some feedback too. I bet they are beneficial for heavy towing. Not to mention they increase the fluid capacity in the tranny.

I really like the Mag Hytec differential covers. They have a built in drain plug so you don't have to pull the cover each time you want to change the fluid. Last time I checked, there is only a cover available for our rear diff though. These also add additional fluid capacity.

I think Mag Hytec is supposed to have a front cover for our rigs by late '03. So hopefully Geno's will have something soon. -Steve

Yeah, I just got the latest Geno's catalog yesterday and it said late '03 was the estimated time. So hopefully they will get them in soon. I want to change both of them at the same time when I do a fluid change.

I was also looking at tghe same as you guys. I wanted the fast coolers and both front and rear Mag Hytec covers. I just wanted some feed back about them before I dropped the money on them.

I'm thinking about trying these guys. I can live without the dipstick and would rather pocket the $ difference.

Wow...what a price difference. I too may be interested in these guys. No need for a dipstick...I agree. The quality looks pretty good too. Now we have to see if they have a front cover.

Price certainly is agreeable for the PML diff covers. Do you have to mess with permatex when using the Mag HyTecs? The gasket on the OEM is much nicer than permatex.

If Mag Hytec has a gasket, thats where I'd put my money at. Shoulda did it when I dumped the rear gear fluid a few weeks ago. Guess I'll wait a bit now.

Re:6 sp Fast coolers

Let me answer a few questions...although my information is of limited value. I have a '99 3500 4x4 with the 6spd.

I have the fastcoolers on. I like them. By virtue of added capacity alone, they will keep your tranny fluid cooler. A friend of mine that has temp probes in his found 50 degrees cooler while towing. They have come out with the lexan covers that allow you to see the fluid level. I like those, although not available when I got mine.

The magHytec covers do not use a gasket. They have an O-ring that is compressed, making the seal. If you prepare the surface of your differential properly, and torque the magHytec properly, it will not leak. I have had the rear one since summer of '99, no leaks. The front one has been on for over a year with no leaks.

This info could certainly be different for an '03 or '04, but I doubt it.

Re:6 sp Fast coolers

I have the Fast coolers on my 03', no temp. probe so no hard and fast numbers on if they actually lower the temp. The extra capacity sure can't hurt.

As this has also turned into a Mag-Hytec discussion, I have that also, the extra 3 quarts of fluid should also help keep things cooler in the rear-end. I'm not sure about the PML cover but does it add capacity of does it just look good?

Re:6 sp Fast coolers

This other companies product is interesting but they do not offer a front cover. Mag hytec is working on a front cover as we speak. I want matching covers. I know how picky can you get, but to some it is important.
