Agreed Forrest. My RDS tank/tool combo was under $500 installed.

Let's see, that's 20 gals at let's say towing with the worst case 10mpg. Well that means I can get nother 200miles out of it before having to fill up. That might make the difference between let's say $2.50 a gal & $2.00 a gal & that means saving $28 on a fillup. $140 - $112 just for those that can't subtract.

IMO that is worth it. I do alot of traveling accross the US and that would pay for itself real soon.

I'd rather have an extra 50-100 gallons of capacity for $200-300.

but if you've got the money to burn, go for it!

You can get the 70 gal. in-bed tank for $750.00...better value.(The 98 gal. cost almost twice as much as the 70 gal....more electronics, etc.) You'll have almost twice the capacity as the 56 gal. I had the 70 gal. in my last truck and plan to get it in this truck too. No matter how you slice it, you end up paying for the fuel one way or another. Either $125.00 twice a month or $250.00 once a month...6 of one, half dozen of the other. It's nice not having to look for fuel every 300 miles while towing the 5er on trips.

I agree. The 70 gal. in-bed is a more logical choice...if you can give up the bed space. Since I don't work construction anymore the only thing in my bed is the 5th wheel hitch.

Forrest, ditto... Except I think your pricing is a little low...

I like the toolbox/tank combo... any size you want up to about 90 gallons for $500 and install it yourself for $5!

I like those too, but the big tanks don't offer much of a toolbox. my current toolbox is already a hair on the small side, but livable. I've already got the toolbox, and the $200 I save can go towards that first tank of diesel! (yeah, that's gonna be a painful stop at the pump... but being able to go 2500-3000 miles on one fill up would be nice. (I run empty 99.9999% of the time) and being able to save 10-40 cents/gal by filling up at a cheap pump would be nice. sure wish I coulda carried some $1.69 Dallas fuel up to Colorado where I was paying dang near $2/gal!

and every now and again, I can get my buddy at the airport to spill a little JetA for me

and yes, I realize it's not designed to be run as an auxiliary tank, but I can work around that

that's the one!

I realize I'll lose a fair amount of bed floor space, but it'll work well for me, and I really want the 95gal capacity. I thought about the 50gal, but it's the same price!

Forrest, I believe there's a 90 gal aux tank that doesn't stick out into the bed like that one... Check out www.rdsaluminum.com They make the tanks that you are seeing on northern tool. They also offer them all in black powdercoated diamondplate, which is what I got. They have a 90 gal tank/tool combo now that i've looked, that only takes up 30" of the bed...

if it's a tool box/tank combo, I don't want it... the 90 gal combo setups yield a toolbox slightly larger than my glove compartment. I like the L-shaped tanks. the only take up another 5" or so of bed over a box.
