51" Nelson or Donaldson owners...

I was just wondering how everyone is liking the sound of this muffler, especially in the 03 with no cat. Also where did you all take it to get it installed? do it yourself? Or is a local meinekee (Sp) or similar shop able to do a job like this? Is there a "S" pipe available for the 03 or do you just rotate the downpipe to make a straight fit? Also if anyone has a sound clip they took of their truck with one of these mufflers, i would love to hear it.
Thanks everyone

same i have the 41" donaldson with no cat and sounds awesome with no drone at all even pulling heavy loads, i had the 51" but found it was to quiet for me thats why i went to the 41", note the 51" had a baffle like thing in the muffler that made it quieter also, the 41 is straight through.

26" Donaldson

I've had mine on for probably 6k miles. Sounds better the longer I have it. Even the last time I was at the local diesel shop the owner commented on how kool it sounded.

I'd be interested in any comments on the 51" also. Mine just came in and I'll be putting it on next week. I'll post comments when it is done.

could someone tell me how it went on? did you have to rotate the pipe, add a pipe, or anything like that? i dont know if its different in the 04.5's since they have the CAT... Did it change the position of the tail pipe at all? I wanna take it somewhere to get it done, i just wondering if a local meineke would be able to do this job.. Thanks everyone for the comments already... Oh BTW any difference between the nelsons and the donaldsons?

You don't have to bend or move the downpipe to make the muffler fit. There's enough flexibility in the system for the muffler to go on with no problems. It may change the angle of the tailpipe but not much at all. The problem will be in getting the old one off.....

Not to hijack your thread, but I also am looking at the 51" and the 41" and am curious about how much louder the 41" is over stock, ( i want it a little louder but not much).

51" Nelson 86131 for me. no baffle; completely straight through. a little noisier than stock. deeper, throatier sound that has more authority esp with a 4' downpipe. I'm not going shorter 'cause its already a tiny bit louder than stock. I got the result I was hoping for, which was a deeper sound without being obnoxious.

I advise having a custom shop put it in. they can weld on the factory hangers to the new muff.
