5" muffler

do any of you 3rd gen guys know where i can get a good 5" muffler thats not too quiet. ive looked on the net and all i can find is the whole exhaust system, but i have a supply of 5" pipe and dont need the whole exhaust. Im just tired of how loud my wifes truck is strait piped. if her truck sounded like my 1st gen strait piped it would be perfect, but it doesnt

Well if you just want to knock some dbs off I'd try one of these. It'll smooth the tone out, and quiet things down. Will still be pretty throaty.

i'm also wanting to find a muffler for my truck. i put a phat shaft 62 on mine and it changed the exhaust note. i loved the way my truck sounded with the silencer ring installed on my factory turbo and the straight 5" pipe, but now that i have the new turbo on, i don't really care for the raspy sound it has now. is there a muffler that will give it a different tone but keep it loud at the same time

JC, the muffler I specified above would be perfect for what you want. I have a video clip of mine with stacks and a flo pro (with my HTT) if you want to see it.

hey rip, send me a link to the sound clip, i'd really like to hear it, did it make it sound more like it did when you had the stock turbo on..cause i really miss that 18wheeler sound that i had.

hey rip, are you running 5" exhaust as well? it sounds pretty tough though i have to admit. is it still pretty loud outside the cab running down the road? i have an 8" tip on mine and it seems like it gave it an even lower tone, hopefully the muffler will take some of the rasp out of the exhaust note. i can't believe i'm even talking about getting a muffler HAHA

I have always run the 5" dia 51" long donaldson on my truck and now just recently I put in a straight pipe and removed the muffler. Now my truck sounds like all the other diesel trucks in the world, and I noticed no gains in spool or anything. Plus it is always fun to be at the track with a sleeper, then people see it run and are wowed!
I had more people comment on how well they liked the sound of my truck with the muffler. So back out to the shop to install the muffler back in.
Donaldson all the way!

i would go with the donaldson if i wanted to quiet mine down some, but i just want to change the tone of it some. i still like mine to be loud, i like it and the drone doesn't get on my nerves like other folks (at least not yet ) but i just wanted to try and find a muffler that would just change the tone back some to how it was when i had the stock turbo on and the 5" straight pipe.

LOL in my case it was pretty loud, I ended up with 2 of them inline but now its straight. You wanna hear loud, OMG thats loud. Its actually a 4" exhaust with 6" tips, MBRP brand. Took the raspy sound out of the stacks.

Took all the soot out of them too!, How do you keep the inside of your stacks so clean? Must have been new...

I have a 5" MBRP muffler anyone can have for free, either pick it up or pay for shipping. I had it on my truck for about a year, then with the compounds it was no longer needed.
