42psi Boost

I have an edge ez in my 04 3500 and the boost gauge was always showing 42psi maxed ouT! I took it out the other day and put it back in now all its showing is 32psi...
Was this posible or was something just messed up..?
and if so.... what happened.?

has the fuel filter been on there a long time? low fuel flow will cause low boost since boost is dependent on exhaust gasses

i assume you have mechanical guages? if it is a digital meter, like an outlook or quad commander, make sure the connections are good. then start checking the intercooler piping and clamps for leaks. after that, pull of the aircleaner boot at the compressor inlet and check the condition of the impeller, shaft play, oil in the compressor housing, etc.

I think 32 sounds more normal if yours is a 305/555 engine.

The question is why or how did he get 42psi out of his stock turbo with just an EZ box on it?

never changed the filter?!?!?!?!?
gotta do that one often. about every 10k miles. change your fuel filter and see what happens. takes about 5 minutes, 10 if you get a bucket and rags to clean up with.

the EZ is supposed to do boost fooling...on pre 600 trucks it has an adjustable boost elbow that does boost fooling. Its supposed to boost fool on 04.5+ but it didn't seem to do much for me when I had one with a stock turbo.

I put the same question to Edge. I have a Juice/Att combo and I see boost pressure of 41-42 if I get on it hard. Basically the reply I got was stating the boost readings are high do to the fact I am at Sea Level. He told me since I was at sea level I could actually move my defuel point for boost up to 39 without difficulty. Hummm.

42psi is normal on an 04.5 thru 07 325hp engine with some sort of programmer. So I would now conclude that something got out of whack when you pulled the guage off...

Not true.

Programmers don't do boost fooling. all you get out of Bullydog is 32psi...same with Smarty...same with any programmer.

MODULES boost fool!
