400hp 3rd

I just bought an 03'. I am new to the 3rd Gen world, so I need some help knowing what to make this one scoot along just as good as my old 01.

I would like to get around 400 HP to the ground. So where should I begin. I have gauges for it already, It has a K&N intake system on it, which I will prolly change to a Scotty Systems setup, then prolly a 4" exhaust. I plan on getting a Goerend converter and VB.

But as far as the engine, what box, injectors, do I need a turbo for 400hp?

I want this to remain reliable, so I want to avoid the stories I have seen on here of the different failures that I have read about since buying the 3rd gen.

Thanks for any help yall can give, and it is really appreciated.

Is it an HO or an SO? That should be fairly easy to achieve stacking any of the popular boxes with an HO even with stock turbo and injectors. If it's an SO then you may need a bit more...
A TST stacked with a BDDL, EZ, or MP-8 should put you there regardless of SO or HO... You will need a better lift pump though....

where would I find out is it is an s.o. or an h.o.

The sticker on the side of the head says 305h.p. I believe. It has been pressure washed over. Kinda hard to tell.

On my 06 I dynoed at 277hp and 543ft lbs. stock but with a bully dog crazy larry I dynoed at 416hp and 845ft lbs. This may get your egts pretty high though.

only power adder was Bullydog on 90Hp setting and you achieved 430 to the wheels???????? It just seems a bit high.

thats what i thought. Thats the only power adder unless you consider a straight pipe a big power adder. 430hp 795tq to the wheels was the best results. torque came around 2800-2900 RPM

Let's see, if you take the numbers from above 277/543 on a stock 325/610 truck to the tires, and on a 90 HP setting you put 430/795 to the tires, which comes out to a gain of:

153HP and 248 Lbs Ft of Torgue on a 90HP setting and a straight pipe?

So, I should be @ those numbers on my 130 setting and NO exhaust, just a downpipe in place???? I wish. I think maybe those numbers on THAT dyno are/were off that day, as I just do not see putting that kind of number down with a simple box and a straight pipe. I mean, you are putting down numbers in the neighbor hood of guys with bigger turbos, injectors, stacked boxes, etc...

so because every other person with a stock diesel got around 280hp and in the low 500's for torque and hemis on that dyno were putting out 240-260hp and around 300tq, all realistic numbers, my truck is suddenly wrong? Alright. sounds logical.

I am just saying that it seems REAL high for what you have done. Maybe you have the needle in the haystack??? I don't know, but once again, seems high for your mods.

Okay,

I finally got a chance to climb under my dash this morning to see exactly what I had.

My 03 has a Bank 6-gun on it. SO I am not real crazy about Banks Products. If I decide to sale this, what is a fair asking price for it? I looked around and seen it on a couple of websites for $599. SO would $300 be reasonable? Ebay it?

What would be a good upgrade in the place of it. Gauges are going in very soon, as I already have them. Exhaust next?? I like to reverse build...

I have the SMARTY from my 01 to get redone to the 03 specs once available...

I haven't run one but lots of guys seem happy with their Six Gun especially with the SpeedLoader....

StrokethisCTD, are you sure you didn't load the CrazyLarry program??? The number does seem a bit high when guys with comparable boxes like the Juice are making 370hp on the high settings and you're running the 90hp setting. Not busting your chops, and I hope your numbers are right, they just seem a bit high.....

StrokeThisCTD, I am wondering the same thing. Seems kind of high for the 90 hp setting.
