I have the boost elbow screwed all the way in and no matter what i do, it will not go over 30lbs. Ive checked all the hose connections. Doesnt matter what setting i put the smarty on, at 30 lbs its like hitting a wall. I here other people talk about hitting 40lbs with no prob. Is this normal for a stock turbo, or should i be able to hit 35-40lbs?

 

If you have checked all the hose fittings and the air filter isnt all clogged up, then I dont know what to tell you...I can and have hit 40-42 lbs...especially when towing heavy.

Maybe the guage is defective...???

 

is this a HE341 or a 351 turbo?

341 i think. Its a stock 03

 

yep, you have the same as I do, 03 with HE 341. I too only get 30 psi max. From the research I have done, that's about all we can expect.

 

Would the 351 make more boost?

 

Yes, over 38 psi and it turns into a bunch of hot air...LOL
