I have code p0606 internal ecm. Tst said this was the computer saying that it recognizes something is there and would go away when the box was removed. I have noticed when using levels 1 and above the engine growls and sounds rough compared to level 0. Tst did not know what I was talking about, so could not help me there. I don't know who I talked to, but no disrespect intended toward him. Did a mileage comparison at 73 mph on 236 mile trip with 20 minutes of city driving included. Mileage came to 22.75, my normal 73 mph highway only is 21.5 bone stock. I had tst on level 1 timing only and cruise set almost all the time. Stopped and shut truck off 3 times and let idle 5 minutes while getting something to drink also. Not much wind, but rain and drizzle the whole way. I'm still very concerned about the growling vibrating the engine makes when using level 1 and above. Since level 1 is timing only it would seem logical to be connected in some way, but I don't know. Unless you have a good ear for engines, a normal person would not notice it. I have run farm machinery for thousands of hours and can notice any difference once I have developed an ear for that engine. If anybody has any info fire back I would be glad to here some feedback.

I'm not sure about the roughness, as your idle quality shouldn't change from the TST PMCR, but the growl you're getting sounds to me to simply be timing growl. They've gotten pretty aggressive on timing in order to keep EGTs down when the duration starts getting crazy.

I have noticed a mild idle difference and have added injector cleaner although I cant say as it has mede a diff. Although I will say It is strange cause sometimes the difference in idle is more noticable than other times but one very noticable change is the sound when turning up torque and H.P. settings truck sounds wicked and kicks ****! Especially love dialing up PMCR when going into tunnels
I to have code P0606 and I have the engine single ping/knock on deceleration and after talking with TST they said the reflash will take care of this and to just ship my box to them it should only take a few days...
I have a calif. S.O. truck and I dont want to drive a stock p.u. for the time it takes to send box back for reflash

Thanks for the reply PushRod, do you think this timing growl is hurting the engine in any way? I am concerned for the longevity of things that is why I posted. Just does not seem right for the noise to be so easy to recognize. It is not noticable at idle but when changing levels I am able to hear the engine change over for a split second. The growling noise is there on accel and decel. It seems weird it is on decel.

I agree with Rod about the timing noise. With the TST on the truck now it sounds a lot like the old ISBs with the timing noise at idle and partial throttle. I will agree that it does sound bad if you're not used to it, but I don't think it hurts a thing.

Thanks alot guys, when I called tst about the code issue i asked how aggresive the timing was and a full 12 degrees was there answer. I do not know at what boost psi or rpm this was in conjunction to, but i am guessing the boost had to be pretty high to get a full twelve. Well I think I am confident enough in the box to put the stickers on the side of my truck now, just have not decided where exactly they will shine and blend the best.
