2300w inverter install questions
I'm thinking about buying a 1500-3000w pure sine wave inverter for my 06 2500 CTD and could use a few pointers before I hardwire the system. I plan on using 2 ga. Or 0 ga. wire to a battery and want to keep the runs short. Probably need a breaker but what size/type? Fuses? Is a high output alternator also needed to run an inverter?
I have a 2000 watt inverter installed. Do your self a favor and buy welding cable, it's flexible and easier to work with. I ran the wire through the fire wall and under the center console. The inverter is mounted under the driver's seat. I have the regular alternator and have not run into problems running things like laptops, tools, and in a pinch the blower on my furnace. I ran AC wiring to the front and back bumpers and have one mounted in the center console. I have the DC wiring fused right at the battery with a 200 amp fuse just in case something goes wrong.
