2 wheel drive in low range
I haven't seen a twin stick for a chain driven NP case. I have only see those kits for gear driven cases like the Dana 300 with two shift rails.
The 2wd lo kit in this guys rig looked bone stock down to the shift lever except for a "2L" setting in between "4L" and "N". Backing trailers up with that pickup sure is a breeze since it idles in reverse at 1mph.

Sounds like he swapped in an NP 203 with the Mile Marker part time kit.Be interesting to see if there is a 2-low kit really out there.
Someplace out there, I did see a kit where it was a toggle switch or similar that just shut off the vacuum to the front hubs. Let's you put transfer case in low and you flip the switch to keep the front hubs from locking. Maybe it was Geno's?
That won't work on a 3rd gen, no front CAD.

Man you are dead on and correct, there is only one shift fork... our cases are just oversized versions of the nv231's with available aftermarket 2lo kits... I installed one in my jeep and it is probably the single best thing I did to it... On the jeep they replace the shift fork and plate and 2 lo is past 4lo so the shift pattern is 2h-4h-n-4lo-2lo... When I compared them (on the 231) you couldn't just cut into the plate, the grove was adjusted in a couple places, so (I'm guessing) to do it right you would have to weld and recut the grove...
I am guessing terra flex might be interested since they make the tera-lo for the 231, if there was enough interest.
There would be no more pressure on the unit then what it gets now, the fuse is traction...
here is the jeep kit...
