have an o7 2500 5.9 Is two stroke oil in the fuel better than additives? If so, what ratio? Will it clog the cat?

 

I would stick with good additives , Power Service , Stanadyne , Cummins , its hard to out do a chemist/laboratory , especially not being a chemist .
But I have a 12v .
I have read that those that have been using , put 6-16 oz in .

 

WhatS the reason for this? I have tons of 2smoke oil, as I ride/race 2smoke dirt bikes! I would really like to know!

 

I don't think anyone has any real answers if 2 stroke oil helps lubricate better than PowerService or Stanadyne or whatever. Having said that when I run 2-stroke oil, my injection clatter/cp3 noise is lessened. I run it and it's quieter. I stop and run straight #2 and it gets louder. Back to 2-stroke and it quiets down. It must be doing something. I just hope it's good...

 

with todays low sulpher diesel,the 2 cycle oil gives the pump and seals a bit of extra lubrication.its meaant to burn unlike tranny fluid which some people use,i use a full bottle of 2cycle per tank for years,it will never plug the cat,unless you put maybe 20 bottles per tank,all the other aditives are more for cleaning as they have solvents and such,2 cycle is cheap and with todays fuel every bit of lube helps,i used lots in my vp44 truck as that pump really liked lube,its a personal choice to add it or not.

 

thanks for the info.Most additives seem to be mostly made up of solvents.I am not so worried about deposits as I would rather be lubricating that pump and injectors.

 

Sorry, i'm new. Let me get this straight, you guys are putting regular ole 2-stroke oil in your diesel tank?

 

Do a search or go to the alternative fuels section... There's alot of reading. And yes we add it to our diesel fuel to help lubricate things.

 

Yes. Diesel is oil,two stroke helps lube the high pressure pump and injectors.Whenever i have stale two stoke gas/oil mix from my race bikes i put it in my volkswagon golf.Wont hurt motor but not very good for oxygen sensors,dont really care,car is for commuting only.I wouldnt put 2 stroke oil in a 6.7 w/ particulate canisters and huge egr.

 

I ran 2-stroke in my 2nd gen and it never was happier! I've been running it in my 06 and have experienced the same results as with my 02. The engine runs smoother, seems to have a little more pick-up, fuel mileage is up, and the big thing, is that the engine starts quicker, no more of the long crank that these 3rd gens experience.

2-stroke is designed to mix with fuel, it will burn with little to no deposits and it puts the lubriticity back into the fuel that ULSD has taken out. I'm happy with the results. We'll see long term if it helps with the injector issues that are starting to be more frequent.

 

anybody know of the best priced/best 2stroke oil around not sure about what brand to use but im sure its about all the same?

 

The best price is the one gallon store brand at Wall World, now that is cheap.

I use 4oz Howes Meaner Kleaner and 8oz 2 stroke oil every tank.

 

I RUN THE 16 OZ OF THE Power Service THAT YOU BUY AT WALMART AND THEN RUN 8 OZ OF 2 STROKE MOTOR OIL SULT FREE. IN MY DIESEL IT IDLES ALOT SMOTHER WITH THOSE TWO TOGETHER.

 

this maybe a retarded question. Just pour the 2stroke oil in the tank and then fill it up at the pump? 1 16oz bottle to a 30 gal tank?

 

Get A TC-W3 Ashless 2-sroke. I use Super Tech, get it by the gallon at Wally World for around 8 bucks. I put 1 quart per tank which is a little less than 1 ounce per gallon since I can put about 36 gallons in. So 8 extra bucks for 4 full tanks. Not breaking the bank here.
