2-4-6 shifting on 6 spd ?
2-4-6 shifting on 6 spd ?
Just curious as to how many of you 6 speed owners shift 2 4 6 skipping 3 and 5 . Also, I am wondering if a box such as the Edge or Ramifier would totally eliminate the need for 3 and 5 (unless loaded).
If I am jumping out in traffic it seems like if I shift 23456 it takes to long to get the shifts through, and if I shift 246 it's quicker on the shifting, but the bottom ends of the gears are a little weak. I am hoping that if I put a box on it I can have it both ways.

I've shifted that patern several times. Im sure a box will raise the low end and make it more peppy shifting like that, but it cant be good for the clutch, lugging it with a box. I usually just bring the rpm's up a little more than usual and theres not a problem.

I use all 6 when towing my work trailer. When empty, 2 thru 6. The 6 speed is nice because of the closer ratios between the gears. That's the biggest reason they went to a 6 speed; so you don't have to wind out the engine so much before you shift. You're in the ideal spot of the power band more with the 6 speed.
I used to try the 2-4-6. Got the BD short shifter and replaced the tranny fluid with Amsoil. Didn't feel easy until I got the Banks Six Gun bundle. I do 2-3-4-5-6 now. Helps to spin the engine a bit higher before shifting. Banks on level 6 and shifting at 2000 makes for a peppy ride.
