12v source from cig lighter switched ????

12v source from cig lighter switched ????

Finish up my gauges (wiring) in the morning. Is the cig lighter 12v switched ?
Didnt jump in the truck tonight to try it plus the dash in apart.

Yes the one up higher on the dash goes off with the ignition. The one in the console stays on all the time and I think the lower dash one stays on also.

So the cig lighter is switched right ? Dont care about the other 12v sources.

I assume you mean is it connected to the ignition switch. If so, yes. I used the cig lighter power for one of my gauges - was easy/quick and works great.

Yes, it is switched.

I used it for my power source for my Tru-Speed tire recalibration box and works great - use it for your gauges also if you want!!

I would use the main ignition wire along side of the steering column in the main ignition harness. This wire is a 10gauge wire that can handle the amprege your gauges require. The cig lighter would work but is usualy only rated for 15amps. I would center splice into this wire with a 16gauge fuselink. If you want to let me know if your truck has a infinity stereo i will gladly give you the wire color you need.
