1100* O.K. for extended periods of towing time?

Hello. I just got back from a trip. There is a long flat road w/nothing around. I kept it at about 70 mph in 6th gear. EGT's stayed at about 1100 degrees for like 35-0 minutes. What would you all say is where I should slow down?
Thanx.

I've read (think it was the banks site) that you can run all day loaded at 1350F but after that the damage is culimative

It also depends on where the probe is. If it's in the manifold.(pre-turbo) thats fine all day. If it's in the down pipe (post-turbo) you're running hot.
I have pyro's on both sides, & have seen 1250* (pre-turbo) for several miles at a time with no ill effects This will usualy be about 900*-1000* post-turbo.

Thanx for sharing guys. The probe is pre-turbo (ATS manifold).

Also it is best to place the pyro in the rear port. Back cylinders run the hottest.

I have two pyro's, one in 5&6 port and one in 1-4, 5&6 run hotter than 1-4. Some times by up to 100*

Supose a guy has his pyro in the front cylinder group, and it is reading 100 low.
Running with it at 1000, with 200+ in question is not smart and can become very costly.

That would add to 1200...so I am not sure what you are scared of?

Move it to the back...stick in a 100 degree fudge factor (if it is a real gauge and not a Attitude or PMT...then all bets off)...and let er' rip.

The "rear three" being hotter is not always a given. On mine (mine alone that I know of) the front three (#2 in particular) is the hottest by 100* on average. I have three probes in the manifold, I have moved them around in the manifold thinking the probes were different one to another and in fact the probes were pretty much the same and consistently read the front three on my engine as the hot side. Again, my engine alone that I can tell. The point is, do not take anything for granted.

"let er' rip"

I like the ending of this post.

I had my Smarty turned way down (from my usual level nine to level 7).
