1/4 mile times/techniques

Time is running out and I need to race an 04 Hemi in a month. I have a straight pipe, Edge EZ, AFE-w-Pro Guard 7 and and a DIY "torque Tube". I am wondering if anyone can offer any 1/4 mile times they have experienced. Mine is 2X2 SRWD 3500 QC Automatic and it would be helpfull to get some launch advice.

ppsi:

My son has a new 2004 Dodge CTD (Common Rail) 4X4
with a 6 speed transmission.

In December, he ran a 17.7 @ 79 MPH. His truck is totally
stock with no modifications so I am sure yours will be faster
than that! I would think you should be in the mid to high
16's. FYI,.....we have seen the stock 2003 Dodge CTD (CR)
Auto 4X4's run around 16.9-17.1 at about 79-81 MPH.

Hope this has helped you some!

Good luck! I hope you beat the Hemi!

ppsi: I have same mods on my truck with same trans , I've owned two hemis before my current cummins I found that if you put your foot on brake and bring trans up to stall speed by holding gas pedal down just enough to keep truck from moving you can come off the line a little quicker just as long as you don't spin the tires to much. If your gonna race a hemi you should beat him except if your going up against a 2wd regular cab hemi then I think your gonna have a big problem. My last 2 trucks were a 2500 and a 3500 with the hemi and my new truck is faster . I can beat my friends 4wd quadcab 1500 hemi . Don't know which truck your gonna go up against. Hope this helps.

It helps my confidence anyway. The truck I am racing is a QC 4X4 brand new Laramie that weighs over 5k lbs. In my club (we are running/sponsoring the Mopars at The Rock in Rockingham, NC)everyone feels like I have no chance but sitting in this truck makes me think the hemi might be a good race. I wonder if there ae any stock hemi sites that might have 1/4 times???

ppsi - I race an 03 2wd qc Hemi on a regular basis as a measure of how my mods are helping. He won the last race with the following setup:

me- 04 3500 4x4 HO w. afe intake & ez on level3

him- 03 1500 w. k&n intake system & 20" rims with fat tires (don't know size)

Off the line we are even but the hemi seems to love to rev. At about 50mph he starts to pull away.

I've since added a Banks Monster exhaust so we'll have to do it again. I'm curious with the new exhaust & the EZ on 4 how things will turn out.

Are you monitoring EG temps?

You have any details about this? Rockingham isn't that far away...
it'd be nice if I could get my hands on a prototype Juice for you for this run

ppsi:

You asked about other websites that have information
(1/4 mile times etc.) for the Hemis.

Try this Dodge website: http://dtw.truckmoxie.com/forums

Hope this will help you.

ppsi - he's a qc swb 2wd.

he is slowly pulling away. we never ran past 80 or so.

we should be lining up in the next week. I'll let you know what differance the exhaust & ez on 4 make.

I have the EGT gauge but it's not in yet. Having trouble finding someone I trust to get the job done.

Mopars at The Rock is April 17. I think there is a web site but in short test and tune is fri PM-w- racing on Sat and I think Sun. The car show is Sat only and I will run the Hemi on Sat. I was hoping to get a bunch of Cummins Rams out there but have had preciouse little responce. If there is interest maybe I am going about "advertising it" wrong. If I can get maybe 10 people I can get a class for the Cummins Rams on the show. I know the Dakota R/T people from VA come down the last few years in big numbers. They tear up the track and some of them are real nice looking as well. Spread the word and come see me win a grand from a Hemi owner!

I would like to come to that event with you! By "The Rock"
you do mean Rockingham Raceway here in N.C. right??

Let me see if I can get some guys together. If you don't
mind, send me or post more specifics etc.

FYI, I live right near Wilmington, N.C., so that event
would be pretty close for me!

Thanks!

It is in Rockingham on April 17. I think they have a good web site but am not really in touch as much as I should be. You might also look for our web site hosted through Hemmings Motor News. Look for "Port City Mopars". I don't know if I am going Fri or Sat AM. If you are a diesel man and are close to me then you know Tom S. at D&E Dodge?

All 2004 were HO-w-305/550 if I am not mistaken. At least that is what it says on the label on the motor.

ppsi,

Do you think he'll race John P's truck for a grand, too??

Both dad (John_P) and I know Tom from D&E... he's a good guy.
