06 Speakers popping

I have replace my 06s stock speakers with a nice set of Alpine Type-R because the stock speakers popped and crackled at volumes above 25. I just noticed this morning that the Alpine are doing the same thing.

What could be the problem? My next guess is the head unit.

Any feedback is appreiciated.

Also what is required to change out the radio in my 06? Also is there a way to keep the factory Sirius?

I dont have an 06' but may be able to offer some advice. Try adjusting the EQ on your Deck. Door speakers do not like bass at all. That may be causing your problems.

Hummm.. I would try a New cd deck. I kinda have that problem with my setup but by that volume I think my ears are going to bleed.

My speakers are popping too. Is this something that would be covered under my warranty. I have the infinity system too. They'd probably say that I blew them b/c I played them too loud but I rarely get above 18-20. Any suggestions?

Yep mine are popping/crackling too.

Kinda reminds me of an old stereo that pops/cracks.

I need to take it in... But don't want to pay for a rental . Truck is a week old today.

FWIW, I want to keep the stock head unit. How did the upgraded speakers sound with the stock unit?

upgraded speakers sound better, but still pop/crackle at high volumes. that is what this thread is about. i think it is the head unit.

hopefully someone can confirm. and give us details on how to install a aftermarket head unit and keep the Sirius antenna.

Mine has had the pop since new. The dealer says "cannot duplicate".

Talk radio is worse than music.

I know it is the head unit but don't want to change speakers until the matter is resolved.

Does it playing any source.

I think it is the AMP. With a factory system you only get so much with an all in one type of deal. I would be willing to bet if you hooked up a quality amp to your new Alpines you would elminate the popping.

Good luck.

Mine did it on my stock single CD unit. The dealership wouldn't do anything about it until I broke the aux in jack on the deck. The dealership then warranty replaced the head unit and got Sirius up and running on it too. I have had zero problems since the original head unit was replaced.

probably has something too do with you trying too push too much juice through the stock head unit. The highest quality units will cause things too crackle when turned up too loud!! Throw in some quality amps going too those speakers so that the head unit onloy needs too be at 20-22 in order too achieve the volume you want, that will fix it!
