Just putting in the boost elbow should help increase boost. I left my stock elbow in when I had a stock turbo TST/MP-8 and I would still see 35-40 psi of boost. The exhaust manifold on the stockers is really small so I wanted the wastegate to open to help with drive pressure.

On your stock 03, the boost elbow, is free flowing, if you install an adjustable boost elbow you can increase your boost, but put your turbo at risk.

If you look at your turbo, you have a small hose(1/4"), from the turbo compressor housing to the wastegate diaphram, the brass elbow that is connected to the turbo, is free flowing, it can be exchanged for one that is "adjustable".

It (the adjustable one) has a small allen headed screw that you can move in and out. The more you restrict the flow, the higher boost you will achieve.

With any fueling box, you will explode your stock turbo, with the modified boost elbow(sooner or later), leave the factory elbow in, your factory turbo will last longer.

The stock turbo for '03-04 models is pretty much done by 35psi. I have mine set to 32psi and been running like that for a few years now. No issues to report, knock on wood.

we did some experiments on the dyno one day. i used to run with the wastgate disconected, reconecting the wastegate was good for over 30 hp .
smarty on 4.4 #9 made 365-370 with it disconected, we reconected it ( only change ) and made over 400.
belive it or not egt's also droped conciderably! with it disconected there was no problem hitting 1400 on a dyno run, reconecting it, i never saw over 1000 on the dyno, barely hit 1200 on the street.
we never tryed an adjustable boost elbow

fyi: the 03 turbo is actualy fairly stout, aslong as you dont bark it alot. mine saw atleast 20k miles with wastegate disconected, regularly seeing 50-60 psi. when it was pulled off the truck it was still tight.

< disclamer > i do not recomend nor endorse running a disconected wastgate on a turbo that is set up for one. ( my 66 is built as a non wasgated turbo )
