~~~water Temps~~~
Just wondering if the cooling systems in our trucks is up to snuff.
Anyone have any temp. issues while towing a trailer in the 7000-8000lb range in 100+ outside temp? Also, how will my Ramifer effect temps if at all?
In AZ it looks like summer will be here next Thursday
and mine has already climbed to two needle widths higher than 200* last week. Not sure what that equates to exactly but I was nervous. Hauled my TT(6K#) up a nice hill and it never went over the same point so I'd guess she's fine. It hit about 94 when I hauled.
opening temp doesn't change the cooling system capacity. If it can't dissipate the energy with one 'stat, it won't dissipate the energy with another. unless of course the replacement stat is higher flowing or the old one is not working right. how come guys change to 180 anyway? isn't the truck designed to run at 190?
I pulled our 5er all over AZ last summer in 100+ temps. The only time the temp. guage needle went above center line was when climbing out of the Salt River Canyon in third gear. Then the needle went about 1 width above center line. The cooling system on these Cummins is fantastic!!
The only time I ever got my needle above the 200 mark was while climbing a 12 mile long logging trail at average of 5 mph in 90+ temps. Barely went above 200 so I was impressed. Thats the type of driving that really heats up a motor.-Steve
