*'07 CTD silencer ring??*
Is the silencer ring the part at the intake of the compressor housing held in by a snap-ring??

This mod just makes more noise then being a performance upgrade right??

Removing the silencer ring does gains nothing in performance. But you are correct, the ring is just held together by a snap ring inside the compressor housing.
