Your '08 Out-The-Door Price?
Well I live in the greater San Antonio (Texas) area. Flying somewhere to pickup a truck just wouldn't be practical for me cause of work and whatnot. Will probably just bide my time till that perfect truck at the perfect price jumps out at me. Got nothing but time. Aint in no huge hurry lol.
Dog gone. Those are some good deals. Both dealerships I went to are those "One simple price, no negotiations, we're on salary not commission, pay the price on the sticker" places, so they don't seem very flexible... Cause if I could pick up exactly what I want for 38500ish out the door, I'd be a very happy camper. Hell, if I can walk away with it for even less, so much the better! Haha...
I paid $36300 OTD for my '08 2500 4x4 CTD/G56 3.42 gears Big Horn (same as Lone Star). MSRP was $43500. I purchased from Steve White in Hickory, NC. Flew out of San Antonio on their dime (they paid for my ticket AND my girlfriends ticket), they picked us up at the airport, drove us to the dealership where the paperwork was done, truck was sitting there waiting for me to hop in. A quick inspection, sign some papers, grab the $20 fuel voucher they included, drove across the street and put another $80 on top of the voucher to top her off, and was on the road. Total time at the dealership, about 25 minutes. EXACTLY how I wanted the new truck buying process to go. It was around 1400 miles home, loved every minute.
Just FYI, i flew in on a Saturday morning and got to the dealership Saturday afternoon. They didn't mind the weekend pickup. Was home early Sunday afternoon with plenty of time to get the weekend stuff done and ready for the new week with the new truck!

At 65mph, engine speed is 1600rpm. At 70mph, engine speed is 1850rpm. At 68mph in 5th gear, engine speed is ~2200rpm (use that when towing).
$34,000 out the door on an 08 Ram 2500 HD SXT, 6.7l TD, 6 spd auto, 4x4, longbed, quad cab
Here is what I would recommend. It worked for me. Don't pay any attention to the MSRP, or the monthly payments. That is what the dealer wants you to do, because it allows them to make a larger profit.
The best way to get a deal is to find out the dealer invoice. This is not the sticker on the rig! You can get this by going to http://www.edmunds.com/new/index.html and filling in the blanks on the truck you are looking for.
Once I know the dealer invoice, then what I do is offer 1,000 below this number. EXAMPLE: My truck invoice was about $39,500-$1000= $38,500 So I offered $38,500 and I had to make it clear that I got to keep the $4,500 rebate. The dealers will always want to keep the rebate, so watch out. So with the 1k below dealer invoice, and the $4,500 rebate I was down to $34,000 (except for tax and license)
Of course this takes some back and forth, but the only way you get a deal is to be ready to walk away from the negotiating table. I also explained to the dealer that my friend has successfully purchased two trucks at Dave Smith for 1K under invoice, and that I would probably head there next.
They couldn't put together a deal any faster once I mentioned I was ready to walk....
BTW the factory sticker (MSRP) is $44,135, and the dealer had a second sticker which was at $47,135. (10K and 13k respectively over what I paid.)
Wish you good luck!

Mine w/ 3:73 gears runs around 2000RPMs at 80 mph. I like that.
I paid $9000 below sticker for my Loaded to the Hilt Mega Laramie. They also gave me $1000 over Book value trade in for my 07. I won't even tell you what the sticker price was!!

Just bought an 08 2500 ST QC 4X4 long bed auto for $28.5. No power locks, mirrors, windows, vinyl floor, etc. - but does have cruise control and the trailer mirrors (I think they all do?). Not to bad for a stripped truck - hey it's still a Cummins!
