Weird turbo stuff?

I probably shouldn't say weird, just buggish. Bought the truck a month ago and all has been good----except the fuel mileage. Anyway, twice now the turbo has hung up in EB mode briefly before I can get it to reset or shut it off and then back on. But today, it sounded as though it came on when it wasn't turned on. I was moderately rolling into the throttle to get around some in-town traffic and it was like it bogged down. Got off the throttle and it was fine. No code.

I have been using the EB pretty much every time I drive it but the previous owner didn't use it much (he tells me). I'm guessing some buildup in the turbo maybe? I hope to start deleting soon so maybe I can get a closer look and clean it up some then. Also, maybe its just me or the lack of turbo sound you seem to get out of these 6.7s but it I can't really hear the turbo moving in and out as much you think it would. My little Jetta just makes all sorts of noise compared to this one. The exhaust system in these things just feels like such a restriction. Can't wait to open it up!

The last time I talked to a good friend of mine with the same symptoms had to have the turbo physically rebuilt with nozzle ring and housing touched up. However, if the turbo hasn't been serviced with the fluid cleaning process, that may be a good start.
