Any clarification would be appreciated
Don't know where you're located, but winter blended fuel, whether ULSD or LSD will net you less m.p.g.'s too.

Thats a good question. I have a friend in California who told me he got 19 miles per US gallon in his truck on a 150 mile run. That was his best to date.

I am becoming more and more convinced that a lot of the loss in fuel economy is due to inefficiency in the transmission. hopefully in a few months ATS will have the Torque converter ready for this truck and then we will see how much better it gets.
I agree a I saw a good mileage increase when I installed a full ATS Trans in my '03.

Unloaded I've seen *** high as 23.2 mpg running 75-80 mph with the ac cranked...that was on a 1300 mile trip from Kansas to Florida. In town I see 16-17s mpg with a good deal at city speeds, and some short highway runs. This truck has always turned good milage since new. My truck is all stock with the exception of a K&N drop-in air filter. I should mention that I have the Aisin tranny.

I would dump the K&N if I were you. I have seen many engines dusted due to that filter. Scares the heck out of me when I open a hood and see that thing in there. Only takes a teaspoon of dust to destroy a cummins.
