Hello to All,
I am new here so if this question has already been asked, I apologise.

I am shopping for a new diesel truck and I am pretty sure that it is going to be a 2500 4x4, 4 door, long bed. I will be towing a travel trailer a couple of times a year. This trailer will be no more then 10,000 lbs.

My question is, I have heard of quite a few problems with the old 4 speed auto. I am going to be getting the new 6 speed and was just wondering if there is anything that I should know about?

This seems like a great forum and I hope to become more active once I buy my new truck.

 

Of all the problems some post with their 6.7s, the trans doesn't seem to be one of them. At least not yet.

I love mine.

 

The 4 speed auto's in 03' HO and 04' and up to 07' are fine. The are the 48re. I tow heavy and have had no issues with mine and many others have posted the same thing. They do have a little bit to be desired but they work fine. Everyone that has the new 68rfe loves them and I have only read of one problem but I don't remember what it was.
