Trans fluid questions

I just got an 03 with the auto trans. The dealer said they changed the fluid and replaced the filter before delivery, and looking at the stick, the fluid looks good and doesnt smell burnt. I had the option of having it flushed, but I had a bad experience with a 700R4 in an old Chevy in that after it was flushed, it died, so I passed on it. The truck has 152000 on the clock, and runs and shifts fine. So far I have put about 1500 miles on it since I bought it, so Im thinking the regular change didnt do any harm.

My question is should I keep doing this kind of change, and at what interval (I dont have an owners manual yet) should I do it?

Thanks in advance.

On my '06, the owners manual indicates the pan should be dropped and filter and fluid changed every 15k. I've been changing it every 30k, since I haven't towed much, or heavy, and the fluid always stays pink.

Drive more, worry less!
