tranfir case oil

Ok the book says the transfer case uses the the same ATF fluid as the the trans. I assume that since the trans-case has a fill & drain plug ,fluid does not flow between the trans and the transfer case. I also assume that you just fill it to the top or close to the top of the fill hole.
Anybody drain their's and what did you see ?

I did mine last fall , had 30k miles on the fluid... Yes it is the same fluid at tranny. Mine looked ok, was just a bit dark..

Yep, drain out the bottom and fill to the edge on the top... I had someone recommend that you can get the top plug lose, before draining out the bottom..

The transfer case takes approximately 2 quarts or so of ATF+4 transmission fluid. Correct, the transfer case fluid does not intermix with the transmission. Like troll3193 mentioned, make sure that you can get the top (fill) plug loose prior to removing the drain plug.

any other fluids recommened for the Tcase or the G56? Or addatives or modifiers? How about to improve shift quality in the G56? synthetics?

I would stick to the type of fluid that Mopar recommends but brand wise its your choice. I dont think the G56 requires and additive but double check your manual and it will give you the specs you need.
