My T case leaks and I was wondering how difficult it would be to change the seal. I have a Hayes repair manual and they say it's not to difficult(complete with diagrams and tq specs)
But I'd like to hear from someone who's done it, if anyone. I don't want get in over my head, know what I mean
Also what weight/type of lube.

Thanks for your help

Use ATF to fill it back up! It is a piece of cake to change

Re:T Case Rear Oil Seal

Food for thought..........

Yes it is quite simple to R&R a T-Case seal. Once you are there you may as well change the fluid, which is Dextron type II ATF. I do however recommend that you drain the T-Case, pull the yolk and seal and then clean the seal surface with non-chlornated brake cleaner, add silicone and install the seal. It is a good idea to put some grease on the backside of the seal itself to retain the lip spring. (Sometimes when you install said seal, when hammering, the spring pops off/out and you either loose it or you will need to reinstall the spring using two scribes). Also, use some scotchbrite or 250 grit sand paper to clean the yolk seal surface, add some grease to the yolk surface, and a light coat of silicone to the internal splines of the yolk and install. Torque the nut (and use some locktite on the threads).

Install shafts, new fluid and drive.

30 minutes and two beers.........
