Tone Ring on the 6.7???
I was wondering if the 6.7 has the same tone ring as my 5.9 in my 04.5??
If so, has anyone tried the tone ring mod to increase MPG??

Are you meaning silincer ring and if so I have taken them out and they are alot different then the 5.9 There is three dowels that hold it in place not a snap ring. I didnt notice any difference and on the 6.7 it looks like it might be there to help channel the air to the turbo

The tone ring is located on the crankshaft. It's a crankshaft position sensor that tells the ecm when to fire the injectors at certain points in the rotation of the crank. Kind of like a distributor on a gasser.

On my 04.5 I modified the tone ring by elongating the dowel pin hole on the tone ring. This advanced the timing of the fuel injection slightly, giving my truck a little more bottom end grunt and about 1-1.5MPG improvement overall. Also made it sound just a little more "Diesely".
Does the 6.7 have the same set up, and would it work???

I looked at it and I think you might be able to take it off and modify it but I dont think it would be worth the time and effort to do it. And like was said above its part of the balancer. So it will be a little tricky.
