There's No Grease Fitting At Front U-Joint
There's No Grease Fitting At Front U-Joint
I know this subject has been brought up concerning that hard-to-find grease fitting at the U-joint on the front driveshaft. Some folks on this forum have stated that there IS a fitting which takes a special type of grease gun in order to access it.
Well, I took my truck to a lube center the other day to have the oil changed and asked the people there if they could locate a fitting. Try as they might, they couldn't locate one. They then decided to get on their computer and, using my truck's VIN, brought up a diagram on the screen that showed all the lubrication points on my truck.
Guess what? The diagram showed NO grease fitting at all in the front shaft U-joint! Is their diagram wrong or is there in fact a hard-to-find grease fitting on these trucks? I'm a bit confused here..thanks in advance.

I have it on mine, it's a concave disc about the size of the eraser on a #2 pencil, silver color in color. Has a small idention in the center for a needle type grease gun tip.
It's a real pain, more grease goes around than in it.
Just went out and looked at my trucks u-joint, it's on the double u-joint at transfer case. There doesn't appear to be one at the front differental.
Go figure.

Your front driveshaft will have a grease fitting. See the attached thread for the location of the fitting and the correct tool to use
