Test drove a new 6.7 today.

I curently have a 04.5 with a six speed and my wife can not drive it. I have put all the miles on it and she has only moved it once and decided never again. This has me thinking that the reason for the manual on this one was that I was so ticked at my 98 auto that I traded for this one. It was fine empty but if I pulled with it there was not enough power to pull in OD and out of OD it wouldent go down the interstate at a sane RPM so I voued to never own anouther Dodge auto. I looked at the GMC's with the Alison and realy liked them but I couldent get myself to spen the money on one. This truck was considerably cheaper than a equivelent GMC. Now with the advent of the new 6.7 and 6 speed auto I figured why not go take a look. There have been plenty of times that the wife needed to drive the truck but couldent so maybe its time to look. Well we where both pleased with the test drive but I couldent get over what they wanted to boot. trading my truck with everything left on it they wanted almost 17K ta boot. This is for an exact same version of what I already have, coller and everything. Now I know trucks depreciate but theres no way ime giving 17K to bump up 3 years and 50K miles. When we left there we drove past the next dealer and seen a brand new all wheel drive Pontiac Tourent sitting there for 17,900. I will just buy her an entirely new vehicle like that before I give 17K ta boot for a twin to my curent truck. One question I did not ask the dealer because after the numbers where mentioned the conversation was over was do all the new 6.7s come with the exaugst break standard or is it an option? I never seen any buttons for it but I did see a button in th emiddle of the dash that I couldent figure out what it was for. It ahd a weird symbol on it that I could not make heads or tales out of. I did definatly like the new tranie though. When time comes I will be looking at them but its gona be a few more years at this rate.

Yes, that was the exhaust brake in the middle. Yes, they all come with one standard. Isn't that button worth 17k to you? How about the power? Auto? Hey...you get your very own fancy smancy emissions system with the new ones....surely that is worth 17k.

This is my current truck. Like I said the one I drove was a twin to this except obviously stock. I dought a new one like this would turn any more heads than this one curently does, and around here that aint many.

I ordered a 6.7 and have received

I ordered and have received my 6.7 Cummins 2500 Quad. The HP is 350 and torque is 650 BF. They all come withe the exhaust brake. The button is right above the ash tray. I have no plans of up-grading the engine. Wow, with the no-lag turbo, I have to have a soft touch on the accelerator (appropriately named), even with the antispin diff, or I bark the tires on dry pavement. The 6 speed auto works well, also. Price.... The MSRP was $45,000 with my options. I paid $37,000 and sold my 95 Ram 2500 Cummins standard cab with 213,000 mile on it, for $11,000. The bottom line $26,000 difference.

Does the 6.7 with 6spd auto run a lower RPM in 5th or does it have no problem towing in 6th?

It will tow in 6th. You can manually shift it down if pulling a grade or they recommend tow/haul mode if in hills to reduce excessive shifts.

I drove one last night and loved it. I happened to mention that I was interested in the new tranny while talking to the tech working on my truck (P0628 issue). The saleman handed me a set of keys to a truck almost like mine; QC, 4x4... missing the leather. What a dream! If I could, I would buy one but I just got this one 6 months ago.
