Strange No CEL After Last Visit to Dealer
My last visit to the dealer was for a P245A, excessive soot in EGR Bypass Valve. Replaced EGR Bypass Valve, Cleaned exhaust sensor, Perform mobil Desoot w/exhaust brake TRO (?) clear soot load in DPF. Just made a trip to OKC, stuck in traffic for over one hour at less than 5 MPH then drove 70 to 90 mph for 7 hours. On the return trip stuck in traffic for 3.5 hours at less than 5 MPH. NO CEL. I have a black mega cab and now my exhaust is black and caked with soot and the rear bumper is completely covered in black soot......NO CEL. Makes me wonder if the dealer did something with the ECM to ingor CEL's. No way this could have happened before this last trip to the dealer with out throwing a CEL. Anyone else experience or suspect a flash to not show CEL's? By the way the dealer knows I am in the Lemon Law process..

Wow, sounds like you have a cracked dpf. That sucks. I wonder why there's no CEL?
There's no way they could shut off the CEL's. That would be tampering with Federal emissions standards. Maybe it's just running better with a hole in the DPF?

MMMmmmm.... Grits!!
Odd. The truck I have now came to me with a stored p2252, or whatever that terrible code is that's causing so much trouble. I drove it a week just to get used to it and fully expected to have it come on again or give me some issues. Nothing. The tailpipe actually had some rust in it. We went ahead and did all of the flashes available at the time. Now I get the occasional sooty tailpipe, but nowhere near as sooty as any 5.9 I have owned. I do believe that the newest flashes are changing the percentages of EGR functioning. Possibly to cut down on the sooting issues. There is no way except to take out the bulb to disable the CEL.

Yep !! The CEL lights up at start. I have noticed a serious loss of power (F150 took me at a light this morning). Back to the dealer ( 14 or 15 ... lost count). I don't think this thing will last until the lemon law paperwork is finished.....I am sure I won't........
Should their be an error code for a cracked DPF?
