Steel wheels

I've been looking for 2 years for a set of steel wheels, to use with a set of winter tires on my 08 Ram. What I'm looking for is the steel wheel, which is typically used for the spare on these trucks. The local recycler...big outfit...searched and couldn't find any in the area. What they did find were somewhere in the midwest, they wanted $125/ea. for. I've found them on Ebay, but the shipping drives the cost up too far. At this point, it'd almost be more economical to buy fancy wheels for the summer and use my stock aluminum wheels for the winter tires.
What makes these wheels so hard to find? You can find lots of trucks in the recycler's yards, but I never see trucks on the street around here (W.Pa.) that are running the "spare" steel wheels.

why would they have to be the steel wheels if you could get a set of alum wheels for cheap? I don't know if you have a place called henderson wheel around there but you can look them up on the internet and maybe give them a call to see if they can get you some also you could check with you local dodge dealer sometimes they have take offs where someone wanted the better wheels and traded them out or check with local tire dealer for take offs.also southwest wheel carries them for $112.00 each but not sure what the shipping would be but you could give tham a call and ask or you could call auto truck salvage at 1-800-788-0155 and ask them i see on the site them have several wheels http://enterprisetruckparts.com www.hendersonwheel.com

I've had a couple sets in the past and I too am currently looking for another set. You just have to keep checking the classifieds here and also Craigslist. They will pop up eventually and usually pretty cheap.

I think the reason you don't see many of them is that they come on Work trucks and those owners usually don't care about nice wheels so they just run them forever.

I found a set in Wisconsin. It's a member on another truck board. If you are interested I will get his contact info for you. He's asking $200 for them WITH the caps but I think he will come down on the price.
PM me if interested

I changed my mind on going with these. I liked them when I ran them before but eventually I started to not like them so much. Not to mention that they are so much heavier than alloys.....
