Running with exhaust break on all the time?

Do you Run with exhaust break on all the time?

Also with or without EGR plugged in?

Help or hender fuel millage?

I have had two Cummins Mech. tell me that you need to run it all the time to keep soot from building up in system. They say every time you crank it turn it on.

Yup.. run it all the time. It is supposed to keep the turbo from getting siezed up by cycling it more.

I ran with the EGR unplugged for a long time, now with the S67 I have it plugged back in, but its disabled anyway..

Any other good points about the S67 for a daily driver that doesn't see towing duty much?

P.S. I run the Exhaust Brake all of the time. Kind of wish it was on by default and you had to turn it off if you didn't want, rather than the other way around.

The S67, Smarty, is a programmer. I understand that it sets the EGR to 0% and basically negates the EGR. However, unless you block it completely, there is still some gas that leaks through when set closed so this is recommended.

Run it all of the time.

EGR is unplugged.

Seems to be a 1-2 mpg gain. Would consider a S67 if funding was there.

Yeah boss, I think I was the first to put in an e-mail to Lary. I'm pretty sure he got it at least. The lottery has never been my friend but I did enter.

Mileage so far and of course a nice kick in the pants for power. I only run it on the 60 hp setting with timing (sw#3) with torque level #2. The throttle response is way more positive, some timing "rattle" as reported.

The S67 software appears to disable the EGR for most of its function. As I had posted on another thread, with the EGR unplugged and the S67 loaded the power increase wasn't as noticable and there was no timing "rattle". So the EGR circuit has to be connected, its just not active. The S67ME software has the EGR/DPF toggle in the REVO settings. From what I read its either both or neither, they are tied together.

HTH..
