Rough Downshift?

Just curious if your trucks downshift pretty hard while using the tow/haul and the engine brake on? It just feels like it might be a little hard on the tranny. I was only pulling a small trailer with maybe 1500lbs.

Yes a hard downshift is normal when using tow/haul mode. I don't like it either, but have gotten used to it.

Yep, I agree, it's a bit alarming the first time it happens, but I've gotten to think it's pretty cool now.

I had the same thing. Thought the hitch was going come out of the bed.

2007.5 2500 4X4 hauling a 10,000lb %th wheel.

Anyway, about a 18 months ago I received a recall to reprogram the computer to ease the downshift in Tow/Haul. Took it to the dealer, explained the problem. He did the reprogram and downshifting in tow/haul on the exhaust brake is much smoother.
