Problem with Sirius Radio

I have to leave the satelite radio on for upto 15 minutes before I get sound. AM/FM/CD has audio right away. Any ideas? I called Sirius and I might as well have spoken with the village idiot.

My guess would be the receiver is bad or going bad.. Mine comes on immediately with sound...

Are you getting a satellite signal immediately? Does the display show artist/song when you dont have sound?

Depending on your model you would probably be better off buying a new one than trying to get it fixed (if you can find someplace to fix it)

That's what you have the warranty for.

Whoa...I thought I put alot of km on my truck!

Looks like seeing the dealer is your only option. I know the recievers are crap...heard from others with the fac radio.I purposely did not get the factory installed sirius for that reason.

Yeah, i think if it was me I would dump that factory stuff and get a sportster 5 that gives you all the info on the screen!

Way cheper than a trip to the dealer

Oops, that's what I get for assuming. Sorry about that. Then I would either try to snag a used system from Ebay or just get a new (better) system.

By the way, you may get more help in the "general" area not "drivetrain".

My Siruis Radio Issue

I just had a similar experience with my '06 Siruis radio. After having the truck sit for three or so weeks, it would not adjust the volume up on the satellite mode and the channel was stuck on 184. Worked ok on AM/FM radio. Before I took it the the dealer for warranty claim (35,600 mi), thought I better check out Siruis account. Went on the Siruis website and found out you can have them send a reactivation signal. Left the radio on and checked the box and five minutes later checked the radio and it was working ok in satellite mode. Drove 200 miles yesterday and the Siruis radio worked as normal. If you do not have it already, you need a Siruis login and password to do the above. I have a lifetime Siruis account and kind of wondering if Siruis is sending deactivation signals to weed out the radio services not being paid for (like Direct TV has done in the past).

My " factory " sirus radio is not crap. It displays all of the info, ie channel, artist and song. It sounds great too. As soon as you turn it on, you hear music. The steering wheel controls work really seamlessly with the radio too. I have been really impressed with the quality and sound of this particular factory radio.
