power steering flush

ok going to be replacing my p/s pump next week and was wonder if there were any posts with advice on flushing the system of the old fluid. is it feasible to disconnect the return line and spin the pump by hand to get the old stuff out? also should i put atf +4 back in or something else? as always thanks for the help/advice you guys give.
