P0013 What does this code mean?

P0013 Camshaft Position Actuator Circuit / Open Bank 1

This is a code that pops up each time I check my codes. I cleared them and checked again before starting the truck and it was gone. Once I start the truck up it comes right back so I think there must really be an issue there. I'm just wondering what the "Bank 1" means and if it may be due to me deleting the emissions equipment. I get codes for the EGT probes in Bank 1,2,3 on occasion and I am wondering if the cam sensor is tied into one of those probes somehow and maybe derates the engine power if it detects a problem.

Any diesel techs out there know anything about this??

Anyone? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone?

I also always have a B1818 code but I can't find info on that one anywhere other than it is a Rear Wiper Relay Code in Fords.. It stays constant and cannot be erased....

Thanks. That does not help me. I already posted the description for the code (which is not on that list) but I'm trying to figure out what it really means and how to correct it.....

I can't even FIND P0013 in any of the '03-'08 service manuals. Where did you get the description from? Maybe you are having problems with your scanner...

It came directly from the scanner but if you Google "Dodge P0013" then you get many pages with the same description. I know where it's at and I will try messing with the wiring to it but I don't want to waste money replacing it if it's not the problem....
It may be nothing but it does pop up everytime I check for codes...

Check the code against what the dash readout shows. This may be a false reading by the scanner.

Did you try disconnecting the batteries for a while then checking your codes with your code reader? You may want to reconnect the batteries, drive it up and down the street then check the codes. There is a trick to getting optimum service out of that harbor freight codee reader you have. Place it on a flat piece of steel, preferably 1/2" thick or better, place a few real strong magnets around it, Then quickly and forcefully strike the code reader with a large hammer. The magnets will pick up and metal fragments that could cause injury. A shop vac can be used to pick up the rest of the debree. Take the truck down to friends garage or to advanced auto and have them check the codes. I will bet p0013 will not show up.

Um, Are you a member of the Goofball club? If not, then I think you are a shoe-in....

BTW, this is the same code reader sold at PepBoys and other auto chains....

Also, since the only "Banks" I know of on this truck pertain to the 3 EGR probes (Bank1 in front, Bank2 in the middle, Bank3 in the rear of the exhaust), I'm going to try swapping the foolers around and see if anything changes. Maybe one of my foolers has a glitch associated with it.

I think if you got a crankshaft or camshaft sensor code it should throw another code along with it. If you have the same AWESOME red colored code reader that I had two of , ( and now on my 3rd that wont display anything, except for the last code the wifes durango put out.) then It wont give you multiple codes, only one. Those readers are not bad for $40 but they will sometimes leave you under your hood for a longtime by not telling the whole story. I looked and now they offer a better one with more options for a little more $ at harbor freight. I do know the crank sensor will give you the same symptoms.

Do I have to fill out an application or do I have to perform the 1700-1800rpm TEST burnout recruitor initiation process??

Mine is Orange. Maybe yours got hot and that's why it turned red. It seems to work fine and will give me multiple codes. I often get codes for each of the EGR Banks that now have the foolers on them. I'd say it's working fine.

As far as the club, it seems that you are kind of funny but you need to put your jokes in rhymes to be a member. Go to the "Other" section and look for the "Goofball Club" thread. You will see how it works...

Here's a link I found with a bit more info but it still doesn't say much...

Hey DZ, All sensors and modules ride on the "BUS" system. Since it is now a two line BUS instead of the previous one line, it could be in simple terms the first place or area that the fault is found. By fault I mean a disruption in the voltage signal. I'll hop on the big system and see what I find.
