Oil Change required on console

I have 4300 miles on the truck. The first oil change was early by choice at only about 1800 miles. I reset the truck according to the manual after the first oil change. Since then I did a long run to Montana and back to Colorado and a couple of runs over the mountains. It seems pretty early for a second oil change. I have done a fair amount of in town driving since.

Any thoughts?

Mine came on at 1398 miles today. I to want to know if any one has any thoughts.

Although I'll probably just go ahead and change it just to feel better. I do alot of intown driving.

I'm also going to call the dealer to see what they say. I bet if I call them three time I'll get three different answers.

Mine called for change at 2400 which I did , then it called for it again at 4800 . I told Dealer I don't want to change every 2400 miles , what's up?
They tried to reset computer but could not , so they said just reset it and change it next time since it appears to be factory set at 2400 miles.
That's what I'm doing , way too expensive to change oil & filter at 2400!

Mine turned on at around 3100, I changed the oil and filter at the dealer yesterday for $107.95 including our 7% sales tax.

I was told that the computer takes into account different factors such as mileage, driving patterns - fast, slow, idling & towing, quality of fuel used, condition of oil - acid levels and such to determine oil change intervals despite the manual stating OCI of 15k miles. BS ??
The OCI can also be manually set by the dealer. That's believable.
I'm sticking to a 10k mile OCI since the first initial change. The overhead, so far, has pretty much agreed with me. Most of my mileage has been highway & towing. Was slow there for a few weeks and doing alot of short running around errand-running type of driving and the overhead requested the last OCI a little bit sooner than my 10k mile interval. Stretched it to my 10k limit anyway. That CJ-4 oil is a bit expensive to be dumping out @ 2,400k miles.
4th change @ 33k miles.
Maybe when the truck is only being used as a daily commuter or grocery-getter it needs to be changed more often??
