Question Which oiL???

Just got the 4-2 package for $91 bucks at geno's. I have 16k on the odo.

Which oil would you use???? Dino/rotella T, Amsoil, any other synthtetic??

This is 100% work truck where I do 2000-2500 miles each week towing 20,000 pounds.

I plan on changing oil every 10,000 miles.

Thanks for any input!!!!!!

I am using Valvoline Premium Blue with the Cummins logo on the front of it. It is the same oil the engine leaves the factory with.

What ever brand of oil you use make sure it's CJ rated as required for the 6.7L.

I will second what mikeyb said. Use any good name brand oil that is CJ rated. I like Rotella 15/40. But to each his own.

Being that you live in a warm environment, and cold pumpability isn't a concern.....run a dino 15W-40 CJ-4 rated oil and enjoy life (Delo 400 would be my choice). 10K OCI's are perfectly fine. Guys that dump before 10K are wasting perfectly good oil.

I can assure you that if you took a sample of your oil w/10K on it, that you would be only at half life in respects to the TBN remaining. I know oil and oil filtration.

I use Delo 400 CJ-4. Delo's all I've ever put in any of my diesels. I did my first change at 5k on this new 6.7 and I plan on every 10k for the rest. I really think even 10k is just throwing away good oil but I just can't change my old habits.

Get a bypass and go synthetic, ( I use valv extreme blue) I went 18k on one oil change, on mixed driving ,And could go further if wanted according to blackstone. Sample every 10k.If you do more highway driving you could go further between changes. This is what the the big trucks do.

Im considering the bypass filter from amsoil and going synthetic but I hate to keep throwing money in this truck as all it is is a work truck. I never priced synthetic oil But im thinking im goinna need 4 jugs of dino/??? at 10 bucks a jug.

Do you guys have actual proof meaning have you drivin over 500k on 1 truck with and without the bypass filter??? I know its only 250 buck and I can go longer on oil changes but this motor aint no million mile motor!!!

The money thrown into bypass filtration will pay for itself in one oil change. Just buy the Amsoil BK-203 ($50) filter head mount (it's the same mount used in the BMK-11 kit), the BP89 return swivel mount ($8), and go to Advanced Auto and buy a Stant replacement oil filler cap ($5) to mount the swivel fitting on, and buy your own hoses and fittings.

That's a cheap setup and you can safely extend oil changes due to clean oil running through the crankcase at all times. Good luck.

What do you guys think about the amsoil oil filter and synthetics. It says no oil changes for every 25k. It collects up to 2 microns. Stock is 10 microns. Fleetguard is 7 microns. or iz that fuel filters. Either way I have 4 fleetguards now but that shouldnt be to long before I used them up
