OH NO!!! Catalyst 80%

Got out of my truck for 2 minutes, set it on high idle and get back in to Catalyst 80% on the overhead!!!!!!

Have 32K on it - took it to the Highway and within 7miles, it says system OK!

Is this the start of my DPF problems..........????????

quick question, how do you set it to high idle? Mine will go to high idle, 1000 rpm when it is really cold but how do you do it other times?

I know it can be done on the 5.9's with either a switch from Cummins or a bypass wire so why can't the 6.7 do it?

You can activate the manual high idle feature on your truck as follows:

then have it enabled, or buy a programmer that does it.
mine works great. took 10 minutes to install the pin.

Sorry to hijack=again but, another thread spoke of removing a large white harness and in behind it there is a short green wire that has heat shrink on it that is to be grounded and then have it programmed for high idle. Does this sound right? Just wanted a second opinion before I do it. Myfirsttruck, I have heard these trucks with the DPF do not like to idle. That is why I am seeking the fast idle. Above 1100 the computer does not log it as idle. And warranty does not cover DPF with excessive idle clogging. To my understanding anyway. If you get the 80% warning you need to run it hard to clean it back up before it goes into limp mode!!!!

I haven't actually done this myself since I have the auto, so I will defer to a 6.7 owner who has actually done this to answer your questions. That way we have the best chance of getting you fixed up with the least amount of sparks and blown fuses

Go to the **** dealer - they have a kit for $365.00. It's a lot cheaper than screwing with your truck trying to save a few bucks after you have spent 40k++++!!!!

Everything is fine you shouldnt have any problems. Your truck needed to go into a regen and the state that it was in wouldnt let it do that or the way you have been driving not being able to heat it up hot enough to burn out so it just started to plug up. When you took it out it let it go into regen. Just remember when it says that in the overhead the best thing to do is rod it and heat it up to burn it all out.
