Some item's only act broken when they are not in the shop, and as soon as a tech can look at it, everything works.(power door locks, fuel gague).
Anyway the latest is the exhaust filter "again", this time they are replaceing it, which is covered under waranty(lucky for me at 3800 bucks!).Guess what, the trucks warranty is up at 100,000km, I'm at 92,000km. So at less than 2 years old my nice new truck is going to start nickle and dimeing me to death. Because I financed it, trade in value isn't worth what I owe never mind the 1,000 a month that I've spent on payment's. The tech says "these new trucks aren't daily comuter's".??! Look at the milage buddy, I'm pretty sure daily comuter's dont put on 50,000 km a year! Anyway each time the particulate filter in the exhaust has plugged I've been on a long trip(2000km or more). My daily drive is 60-70 km each way at steady rates of speed, no stop and go, I also try to keep the rpm's up at 1700-2000 (6 speed auto).Anyway, hate my truck; wishing I bought a Ford

May I suggest you give Harry @ Peak a call (hes southwest BC also)
Since your warranty is about over he can recommend a couple of things that will make you not hate your truck so much. He has helped many 6.7 owners love their trucks

Orr,

Sorry about your luck. I am at a loss as to what to say but plugging of the DPF could be caused by many things such as fuel quality. I know alot of guys that burn the "off road" fuel from the Drill rigs etc and it does nothing but plug it off as its not ULSD all the time. The soot created can't be burned off and plugs the filter.

Maybe you should try a Ford.. They have great Warranty too with more service centers to keep you going. Just don't bolt anything to the cab as it has to come off to do anything.. The sure do look nice in the service lot I drive by...

thanks for the input guy's, for now I think I'll try to get what I can from Chrysler. If I keep the truck I'll probably install an after market exhaust with tuner, really hoping dodge will just buy back the truck seeing how there has been so many problems. even the sales manager can't believe how many there has been! (good salesman I guess, say whatever makes em happy)Merry Christmas!

These trucks are no longer every day driver to work unless you drive 50 miles or more... The emmissions are just as bad on Over the road trucks.

I drive my 08' M/C 4x4 6.7L in Los Angeles bumper to bumper traffic, for an average of 30 to 50 miles every day. I have close to 20k miles on it, and so far the only problem I have had was the electric shift motor in the transfer case crapped out while in the dunes at Pismo Beach. I get about 15 mpg average, and about 10 mpg when towing my toyhauler. I use the EB and keep it in tow/haul mode most of the time. I love this truck.

I also drive with the t/h button on most of the time. What does driving with e/b on do? (besides slow you down, will it cause any problems?)

I've read in the forums that using the EB all the time and keeping the trans in T/H helps keep things from clogging up, ie: EGR, DPF. Anyway...thats what I read......so far so good.

Simply unplugging the EGR plug makes such a difference that I cannot believe none of you have mentioned it or done it. On the 08 I had my mileage went up dramatically immediately upon doing this. I like my current truck but I really miss my 08 which I was forced to sell due to the economy....

X2 on unplugging the EGR, my in town mileage went up 3.5 to 4 mpg and on highway went up about 2.5 mpg. Towing mileage stayed the same. The engine seems much happier and the turbo is not as laggy.

Unplugging the EGR causes the CEL to come on, based on some of the reasons for returning for service I would say that CEL would bother ORR and not be an option.

Join the club but to whine about some of the issues you did would indicate that you would not want a CEL to be on all the time. Now if you don't mind the light then go ahead and unplug but then don't expect much more warranty support when you bring the truck in for some other minor non reproducible issue. Then again you do want to buy a Ford so I am sure all your problems would go away when you get one, not.

Ha ha, hey andy the camper nohard feelings but if you buy a new truck don't you want everything to work right? CEL is the least of my worries, every now and then a vehicle comes off the line less than perfect yes even from dodge, thats why they have a lemon policy ( hard process to follow). Anyway helpful info from all is much appreciated.

my question is what part of the warranty is affected by doing the DPF EGR mods? if it's just the emissions warranty, then who cares.
but if the engine or drive train warranty is affected, then that is cause for concern
