my friends 2007
In Ft.Worth, Texas YOU have to read the sticker on the pumps! The ULS fuel was going to have a different color sticker on the pump. But after looking at 2 or 3 newer stations some of the stickers are the same color. And the under paid store clerk HAS NO CLUE what diesel he has! Over half of the stores here still have the LS fuel! Try and explain which diesel to buy to your better half!
That is like trying to explain to her why you want to put stacks on your truck! So, I just make sure it is FULL anytime she needs to drive it!

Sorry to here that, my wife prob knows more about these trucks than many many of the guys on here. Most of the people were she works think its weird and the guys think its hot. For example she was ridding with her sister and her boy friend and he thought he had a blow out on his dually. She knew from the sound and how it was acting that he blew an inter-cooler boot and that's what she called it by name not "that hose thingy". I checked the truck when they got back and it was. Sorry to get off topic.
In the US it is not mandatory for every one to sell ULSD till 2010 so you better watch what you buy. I really don't think you will hurt any thing even on the 08 like mine. My brother-in-law had to run LSD in his 07 5.9 for almost 6months before any one around here sold ULSD. Even though it was "illegal" it was the only fuel sold for 85 miles of his house.

I second that Mlucas , its about all you can find retail or commercial in AB. you can get dyed fuel at the UFA,s and federated Co-op, but it is a bulk delivery to permit holders only(farmers). It is a little difficult to get reg#2 or LSD by accident up here. by the way , which Espar are you using? -factory installed "cab heater" or the Espar dealer installed combination unit? How do you like it?

That's is where most people are getting confused about the ULSD! The sticker states 2007 and NEWER vehicles or something like that. But on the Dodge trucks a 2007 with the 5.9 engine you can run the LSD with no problems. But the 6.7 engine has to be the ULSD. Yes it will run with the LSD, but who knows how long!
Also, if the truck stops running and is sent to Dodge or Cummins for repair and a they run a fuel check and find that regular LSD was run in the 6.7 the warranty is HISTORY and you are on your own for any repairs!

UP here I have an Imperial Oil card lock card. Almost all the pumps I use say Low Sulpher Diesel. So we contacted them and its ULSD and they are just too lazy to put the new stickers on the pumps. Some of the Flying J's I fuel up at have three options. Winter fuel, #2 ULSD and #2 LSD.
Some only have ULSD and in Gary Indiana there are ULSD and LSD pumps.
Awhile back I 'assumed' [and we all know what that means
] that the pumps in Fargo where all ULSD and I filled up the factory tank and noticed it said LSD. Whoops. I moved to the ULSD pumps for the slip tank. Never had a problem and I actually felt like I had more power. Probably wishful thinking.
Now its all ULSD in Fargo at the J.
One thing I gotta watch out for is the blended fuels in the east are not as gel proof as the stuff I get up here. My hose from the slip tank to the factory tank gels everytime I hit the cold weather. So now I dump in some ULSD compatible anti gel in the big tank before I hit the real cold weather and no more gelling of that 3/8" hose.
The CEL or MIL is so common place on these trucks that some of the dealers are really getting overwhelmed with all the folks coming to them with that issue. Obviously Dodge rushed to get these engines to the public so we can trouble shoot for them at our expense. I'm still looking to see where the law states I have to do all this for free for them. I also want to know where my fuel payments are for when I have to take the truck out on the highway for the 'Active Regeneration' to be performed.
Ain't technology great?

I think the sticker on the pump says any diesel built on or after 2007. The model year 07 with the 5.9s were built in 2006. So technically it is not illegal to run LSD in those. The law states that diesel vehicles built in 2007 or later must be compliant with ULSD...not the model year which is an arbitrary manufacturer set timeline.
I think if you examine the law verbatum it states ENGINES manufactured (Assembled) AFTER January 1, 2007 are REQUIRED to use ULSD. NOWHERE does it state in the vehicle manual that 2007 5.9 vehicles are REQUIRED to use ULSD!

We spend 7 figures on diesel fuel a year for our trucks and have checked into this with UFA, Esso and Co-op. We don't need an emission engine running LSD and plugging off the DPF, and blowing a job or losing us work. We already had a falling out with Cat over DPF/EGR problems, and will only run the big Red ISX's from now on.
