My 48RE is not down shifting right??

I pulled my 8000# 5th wheel week before last and made a 700 mile trip (empty) last week and I started noticing that when I pulled up to a stop that if I didn't count to 10 the truck would still be in 2nd gear when I started. If I waited for about 8 sec. then I could feel the truck drop down to 1st gear. The first time it happened I thought someone had bumped me in the rear end, but no one was there. Any ideas what's going on? Truck transmission was serviced at 30K and now has 50K on it. 2004.5, 48RE stock.

Sounds like the governor pressure switch in the tranny. Had the same problem with my 04.5. The switch cured the problem. Quick fix - $150.00.
