Thumbs up Mileage getting better.

Well guys, my mileage has gone up significantly in the last 6 weeks. When I first it bought it, 12 to 13 in town, now up to 16. Highway MPG has now jumped to a little over 20. That beats my old '01 3500. The truck now has 3700mi. on it and has been run REAL hard(towing my TT through the Rocky Mts.). I tow with it about 70% of the time. The above numbers are unloaded. My last tank pulling I was able to go 380mi.(remember-Rocky Mts.)This is all off the overhead, but it goes a LOT further on a tank now, so it's certainly doing better. When new it wouldn't go more than 420mi. on a tankful, unloaded. Now I'm going almost 550mi. on the last 2 tankfuls. The mileage gains are sooner than expected as I haven't even done my first oil change yet(probably this weekend). Just thought I'd share my findings.

Well benny, consider yourself lucky. Mine gets between 9.4 and 17.7 towing and empty @ 7100 miles. Average is about 14.0 hand calculated.

I hope it keeps on like that, however not to rain on anyone's parade my 08 3500 dually with 3:73 was really excellent just like yours. It has been slowly dropping until now with about 7000 miles on it and lots of trailer towing in the mountains of BC and Montana it has made me a little unhappy. I am wondering if when these trucks are new and the dpf etc are really clean that they don't run better. I have never been able to detect if my truck was going into regen at all. The only clue may be a temporary drop in overhead economy rate. After all the hard work it did this summer I was hoping it was well on its way to being broken in and improving, not going the other way.
