I have a big family and I tow a 27' Searay in the summer and a 27' enclosed snowmobile trailer in the winter. I can fit all four of my kids and my wife in our Mega-Cab. The turning ratio is tighter than my '02 GMC crew cab and it does not feel as big as it looks while driving around town. The bed capacity is a non-issue for us. As far as payload, everything I have is on a trailer. The Mega-Cab fit our family and lifestyle perfect. I guess it just depends on your personel preferences. Mega-Cab for us.

The qc is tight in back with adults. It was fine for the kids but would not want to take any kind of trip in the back seat. Now with the mega cab the kids can't even kick the back of the front seats. My rear passengers will be much happier on our fishing trips and the mega cab also has rear vents for AC or heat.

They cannot put a manual shifter in the floor because the ducts for the rear seat vents run under that console.

If you plan on hauling people regularly get the Mega Cab - big back seat shorter bed. If you plan on hauling cargo get the Quad smaller back seat longer bed.

Does anyone know why Dodge went away from the suicide doors on the Quad cab? They were kind of handy - you could put stuff in the back seat and the front a lot easier.

George
The suicide doors eliminate the "b" pillar thus reducing the stiffness of the cab.

Me and my 3 technicians jump in my quad every week and they don't complain about the room back there. My 13 year old has enough room to cross her legs back there. I'd say the quad is mre then enough. I didn't like the suburban feeling I got when I test drove the mega cab. Just my $.02

The Mega can be considered to have two ways of hauling cargo:

1. In the bed (same length as any Dodge short bed truck), or

2. In the fold-flat cargo area of the rear cab. I've fit furniture, cargo, musical equipment, and just about anything else that will fit through the limousine-sized door (opens to like 90* too). It's a secure way to haul smaller cargo without having to use a locking tonneau or shell. The storage in the underfloor area is the BEST. It's also nice to be able to haul 4 adults and an infant in a car seat, plus a full load of groceries behind the rear seats.

Cool Quad for sure

I couldn't see a sheet of plywood sitting on top of my tail gate. Man talk about freaky with a 5ver fo sho. I like the fender flares big time though & it is a cool looking truck too.

I love my QC and have thought a lot about purchasing the MEGA!!!!!!

I will probably buy the MEGA when I have to ride in the back!!!!!!!!!!

For now the view is the same from the drivers seat. One thing that I really like about the MEGA is that with that cab I could eliminate my toolbox. Right now I pretty much have a short bed with it, so losing the long bed really is not a factor.

I too am torn since I will be getting new truck soon. I have an 01 QC which is a joke in the rear seat room. The bed on the MC is 3" shorter than the bed on my 01. I am leaning towards the MC since one son is over 6' and the other is growing like a weed. I will be having the conversion done to stretch it out to a long bed since I also tow a 5er and have battle wounds on my bed now. Don't even want to attempt it with a shorter bed. Plus the conversion is less than 6k.

I just sold my 2003 Ram Dually QC and travelled across the country, with wife and 3 sons in comfort- all boys are 6', and no complaints...it's not tiny for gosh sakes! What I don't understand is the tiny box on such a beast of a truck, there should be an option for Mega Cab and an 8' box, seems like there'd be enough interest to warrant the option.
O well ...I like 'em all!

I do a lot of city driving and the length of the truck was a concern. That extra foot or two shorter length of my QC makes a big difference when it comes to finding a spot to squeeze into on a parallel parking metered street every day. I figured I'm parking the truck by myself a lot more often than I'm carrying around four people who need the space.

If Dodge made a mega-cab long bed truck, I'd seriously consider it. But I don't believe in shortbed trucks... they just make no sense to me. You just can't get a big Lance camper in a shortbed truck.... and if I had a 5th wheel it'd be a toyhauler, and I would want a flatbed to carry a couple of ATVs (sideways) which you also can't do on a shortbed frame.

So... if maybe on the 4th generation trucks (whenever they come out) they decide to offer up the Mega Cab with a long bed (and a dually), I'd be all over it... in a 4500 that is.

I just can't get used to the way the Megas look stock. One of these days I am sure they will grow on me, but it takes a lot of money to make them look appealing to me right now for some reason. (Lift, Tires)

When I was looking a the Mega cab I had second thoughts about it due to its size so I walked over and looked at a quad cab. I drove away from the dealership that day with the mega cab and love it
