crlamb,

Not that it makes your situation any better, but I live & work on a large cattle ranch here in south central Florida. My 2007 Dodge, 6.7 has been wonderful. Pulling loaded stock trailers on a regular basis, idling a hell of alot while driving the 9,000 acre's almost everyday. I took the bed off, and installed a flat bed, which is WAY easier for ranch work.

I can honestly say it's been pretty darn good. I will say the mileage sux's! But, who buy's a large truck for work, towing almost everyday, and expects good mileage? Not Me !

The 08 I drive for work throws codes all the time. Pretty aggravating.

yeah buddy! I have been on many a road trip thru texas hill country in my dually, sometimes not loaded too heavy either. I like to "test" the Cummins uphill on some of those high % grades Got in a pissing contest one night with some nut driving a purple Peterbuilt OTR truck, and about 10 miles further down the road had to show him "Whats up" with my Megacab passing him uphill while pulling my 24ft enclosed carhauler! Rollin' Coal, LOL I could see the haze of clouds of partially combusted fuel particles in his headlights!! I let off the pedal at about 100, but the truck was still pullin. I guess i have one of the ones built on a Wednesday or something. 22k miles and my truck has been very good to me, cant complain really.
