may buy a 2008 6.7 6speed with 22,000miles

Ok, guys, I looked at a 2008 6.7l 6 speed 4x4 mega cab today. its immaculate. stock exhaust, i dont see any wire taps or any of the usual signs of removed tuners or gauge pods. looks bone stock except for the goose neck hitch. didn't have time to drive it today, going back tomorrow to drive and talk a little more. What do I need to look at specifically? im not familiar with the 3rd gens, 6.7 liters. so far all i've had is the 24 valve 01 in my sig.
Also, any advice on air intake, exhaust and tuner mods. if i do buy it, after 30k it will get dpf/egr deletes and tuning. for mileage. i drive 940 miles to work and back every 2 weeks.
thanks

Hi,
I cannot believe you found a 08 with only 22K on the OD.
Here is a link to a PDF booklet that should help you in looking at issues with the 6.7L engine.
http://www.turbodieselregister.com/m...ersguide.phtml
I would leave the CAI alone unless you plan on making 500HP or more. The Stock CAI for the 6.7L engine is the best on the market for under 500HP.
I am using a 5.9L, LB 5" exhaust system from MBRP on my 08 Mega Cab with a Smarty ME67 tuner. The EGR is blocked off with the cooler still on the truck. Been this way for over 40K miles with no issues.

well Jim, I bought it!! Thanks for the advice. I'll definitley be doing deletes soon. So a smarty and exhaust, block off the egr and she'll be good to go? Whats your average mpg?

Yes, to the first above question.

Now my average MPG for the model year 08 was 11.59 this was before deletes. After deletes was 13.11 MPG for the year 09, for the year 10 14.17 MPG and for the year 11 my MPG 13.83.
This is a combination of city driving at 60% and highway towing my 5er at 40%. Every fill-up is tracked on a excel spread sheet.
So I am happy with the MPG's.

I live on the west slope, so there isn't any! Denver is the only place in the state I know of that tests.

Sounds like a good find but that sure is low miles for an '08. Just make sure it has all the recent flash updates and it should be fine. At least having the gooseneck already there means it did at least SOME towing. (and for a 6.7 that's a good thing) Enjoy!!

what flash updates 8bm? i'll go back to the mopar shop and ask when i get home in a couple weeks.
yeah, i know 22k is really low, its a local trade. an older couple bought it and used it to tow their 5'er to az few times. traded it in on a long box 2012. i spoke with the salesman that ran the deal and was put in touch with the po. really nice guy,he took excellent care of the truck.

graphite, where you moving too?
