I have the "service required..take to dealer" light on displayed on the overhead console. I have 76,300 miles on it and it just came up. What is the light for and more importantly how do I reset it.
I had the "perform service" light on before and i changed the CCV filter. resetting that light was easy. I searched on here and it was said to.
1. turn ignition on
2. press brake pedal twice
3.press accerlerator twice slowly within 10 seconds
4.turn ignition off
I tried doing that to reset the service required light with no luck.

I should of mentioned that I have the deletes done. I tried the perform
service method and it doesnt work for this service required light... Or am i just retarded?

 

lol... try it a couple times. also make sure you replace the filter under the valve cover.

 

I did the CCv filter 5k ago. I reset the perform service on the first try. I will keep trying. Is there a certain mode that anything has to be in?

My truck gives me this message, and I found that with the Smarty Programmer, if I pull the codes, it shows no codes. Clear all codes anyway, and the overhead goes away.

 

the maintenance required light will never set a code because its not a malfunction. its a reminder to change CCV filter and do EGR clean (on non deleted trucks of course) but the light still has to be reset.

 

Still no luck. This is frustrating...

 

do me this. just a try and might be worth it. offload your smarty (or h&s) back to stock and then try it. I have seen crazier things

 

my 08 came up with this problem a bit after got my smarty s67 all i had to do is load stock prog. back in truck then load the smarty back up and was back on the road in 10 min had to do this bout every 10000 km or so

 

By stock do you mean factory stock or stock program thats on the Smarty? Either way I will gve it a shot. I have nothing to lose. I will keep you posted on what happens.
