Love the new F-450's - Will dodge do the same?
Fender flares are a result of the wide trac front axle. Thats why the F450 turns so well. Look at how wide the front axle is. Thats why the fender flares on it are huge.
And yes the F450's get bad mileage, but its a purpose built comfortable truck. Its made to handle a GCWR of something like 33,000lbs legally.

I priced the dodge 4500 Laramie 4x4 online - $53,000 and thats with a bench seat and no bed! A loaded F-450 is about that much with way more options, aluminum wheels, nicer interior and a BED! You would probably have to put another 7-10 grand in the diodge to get it where the F-450 already is.
Come on dodge! Open your eyes!

The Ford dealer here (it is a big one) has a F-350 king ranch for $62,000.
I was just dinking around, too.
The Ford site gave me $51280 for a Lariet 4x4 F450 without adding other options.
The Dodge site showed the 5500 C&C laramie at $50775.
There would be plenty of goodies to add on to each one, if I were to actually order one.
I can see why people tend to just run 3500's over GCWR...
Edit: I wonder what a nice looking flat bed w/stake pockets, headache rack, storage boxes, skirting, and a trap door for 5th wheel hitch would set a person back?

Is that the same ford dealer where the guy in a different post said that an F250 is 80,000 dollars?
The F450's are going for low 50k's and like another member said, with a bed on it.

If you don't know, if you have a F450 they must take the body off the truck to service the engine. Just think want that will cost after warranty. Thats if the 6.4 makes 50K without problems. The 6.7 an't doing much better.
Sterling has told me that there will be a true crew cab in 2010. So I assume that means dodge will have one. Dodge is eat up with the Dump Axx. A real CC with an 8ft bed with the cummins would outsell anything out there.
Whats really bad is the 3500, 4500, and 5500 has the same Combined towing capacity, so if you towing, why would you want a 5500??? at 2000 dollars more? than a 4500.
Dodge or Sterling is going to have sell a non commercial verson on the 4500 and 5500 to compete with ford in the Combined towing capacity field. Dodge wants to stick to 26,000lbs so you don't have to have a Class A license.
I'm becoming board with Dodges plans and am looking at 2002 and 2003 7.3
Crew Cabs for towing my fifth wheel. With the trailer I have now I could get by with a Mega Cab Dually, stretched with a 8ft bed.(23,000lbs GCWR) I have to go with a chasis and cab If I get a bigger trailer. I really don't want a 6.7 with the varible vane turbo. I'd rather have the old style jake on the turbo dump pipe. That means a 5.9.
The F450 would be a great truck if it had a cummins in it.

I have s customer that I build fence for and he is VERY wealthy. He ordered a new F-450 as soon as Ford let him. With the King ranch it was $65,300, and the plus side of it is that he gets 6-10MPG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even Dodge said in a press release that the 4500, 5500 were for high GVRW for stuff on the truck (flat bed, dump box, welding bed, cubes, ect.).

Thats not counting the boxes on top of the bed.
