Even tried it in Park.

You have to be in "D" (drive) for the gear change toggle switch to do anything. You are correct in your assumption that while cruising down the road "-" and/or "+" will make gear changes happen.

I had mine done today with an oil change. I dont notice an differences so far. Im glad that Smarty has gotten around it. Had to do it since I live in the Peoples Republic of Commie-Fornia and I do have to do the smog inspection in November. After that I'll be doing the deletes and keeping my stock stuff in the garage for those pesky every other year inspections.

Had the J35 recall done about two weeks ago. Haven't noticed any difference in mileage or performance. But then again, it took me 20 years to realize my wifes a pain in the@#%&....

I'm in your boat here in CA. Did you get a notice in the mail with your registration renewal like gas vehicles? This is the first I've heard of actually requiring. Where do you take it to be inspected? Same place as a gas vehicle?

I plan on handling it in the same fasion you are. I will wait until I get this notice and then return to stock, get the J35, get inspected, and then go back to Smarty.

well, got reflashed today. Dealer came to my work and couldnt do it. It would appear I had 3500 software uploaded to my 2500 he said. He said he didnt think it was possible, but who knows. After he tried to fix it, i had to take it there to the shop and he used some wireless deal to upload the software. Anyways, shifting fine and my little rocker switch works now. For a minute, he was wondering if I had a 3500 ecu or a 3500 badged as a 2500......it was a real mystry for a bit...

I did not think 2500/3500 had anything to do with the software. Just the year of the truck... On difference in the 2500/3500 are some springs.
