The owner of the dealership contacted my Dad after that experience and did verify that DC decline the order. But the owner was even more upset that his sales staff didn't contact my Dad to tell him the situation nor offered to locate a similar truck for him.
It's all a mute point now, he's picking up the new truck today from another dealer.

I definately agree that someone dropped the ball on not getting back to you guys. Good salespeople are hard to find.
